Wheatgrass – The Truth

You have probably overheard colleagues discussing wheat grass at some point at some point in the last couple of years. Whether you’ve overheard discussions at work or member of the family currently utilising one of the numerous forms of wheatgrass but if you’re like the majority of people, you might still not understand wheatgrass or the natural healing power wheat grass possesses.

wheat grass is simply the young blades of grass from wheat grain. When the wheatgrain is soaked and planted it develops shoots within 2-3 days. A few days later the shoots develop into blades of lush green grass. Within 8-10 days the wheatgrass can be ready for harvesting, Its woth noting at this stage that although the wheatgrass already contains high levels of nutrients it has not had the required time to process complex carbohydrates often found in over-wintered wheatgrass.

Once the wheatgrass is ready to be processed it is usually processed into various forms, which can include wheat grass powder (Often made by drying and crushing the wheat grass blades into an extremely fine powder) wheatgrass capsules (simply the powder filled into capsules for ease of consumption) wheat grass tablets (again usually the powder cold pressed into tablet form) and wheatgrass juice. (The wheat grass blades are juiced in a specialist wheatgrass juicer which grinds the juice out of the wheat grass leaving essential nutrients intact.)

Any of the various forms of wheatgrass harness an abundance of health boosting properties, with a wide range of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and amino acids. Wheatgrass also contains an impressive 70% chlorophyll, which is extremely similar in its DNA make up to blood. This means that our bodies can use the nutrients in wheatgrass very easily.

wheatgrass capsules has been used for decades but it has only just arrived in the united kingdom and it can now be found online and at most juice bars. Wheat grass has been used for a lot of medical ailments and can be applied topically for external skin complaints like eczema and acne. Taken internally it can help cleanse the blood stream replenishing it with essential nutrients which are needed for optimum health.
